- 1.A circular pizza base has a radius of 12 cm. Work out the area of the pizza base. Use π = 3.14.
- 2.Point P has coordinates (2, 1). Transformation A reflects a point in the x-axis. Transformation B translates a point by the vector (0, 4). Work out the coordinates of the image of P when A is applied first, followed by B.
- 3.A triangular solar panel has two edges of length 1.8 m and 1.3 m, with an angle of 72° between them. Manufacturing the panel costs £85 per square metre. Work out the total manufacturing cost. Give your answer to the nearest penny.
- 4.Two similar triangles have lengths in the ratio 5 : 8. A side of the smaller triangle is 6.5 cm. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the larger triangle.
- 5.A birthday cake is a cylinder of radius 10 cm and height 8 cm, with a thin ribbon fixed exactly once around the curved side, at half the height, and joined with no overlap. Work out the length of ribbon needed. Use π = 3.14.
- 6.Point P has coordinates (6, 4). P is rotated 90° clockwise about the point (1, 2), and the image is then translated by the vector (−3, 5). Work out the coordinates of the final image of P.
- 7.In triangle ABC, AB = x cm, AC = (x + 2) cm, BC = 15 cm and angle BAC = 100°. Work out the value of x. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 8.A plan of a car park is drawn to a scale of 1 : 500. A parking bay is drawn as a rectangle measuring 1.2 cm by 0.6 cm. The real width of the bay corresponds to the 0.6 cm side. What is the real width of the bay, in metres?
- 9.A vertical line passes through the point (5, 2). Write down the equation of this line.
- 10.A cylindrical water tank has a solid hemispherical dome on top, both with radius 2 m. Work out the volume of the hemispherical dome alone. Use π = 3.14 and give your answer correct to 3 decimal places.
- 11.A footpath is 3750 m long. Work out this distance in kilometres.
- 12.In triangle ABC the angle at C is 90°, AC = 8 cm and the angle at A is 30°. Work out the length of BC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 13.A mast stands vertically on level ground and its top is 60 m above the ground. Amelia and Noah stand on the ground on the same side of the mast, in line with its foot. The angle of elevation of the top of the mast is 30° from where Amelia stands and 60° from where Noah stands. Work out the distance between Amelia and Noah. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 14.In triangle ABC, AB = 9 cm, BC = 6 cm and angle BAC = 35°. This description fits two different triangles. Work out the two possible sizes of angle ACB, each to 1 decimal place.
- 15.A solid cone has a base radius of 6 cm and a vertical height of 10 cm. Work out the volume of the cone. Use π = 3.14 and give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
