- 1.A shopkeeper builds a display from two cuboid boxes, shown in the diagram. She wants to cover the front of the display with coloured paper. Work out the total area of the front elevation, in square centimetres.
- 2.A running track has a straight section and a semicircular bend. The bend is a semicircle with radius 32 m. Work out the length of the curved part of the bend, to 1 decimal place. (Use π = 3.14.)
- 3.A sector of a circle has angle 120° and an arc length of 31.4 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the radius of the circle.
- 4.A parallelogram has an area of 84 cm² and a base of 12 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 5.A bead starts at position (2, −1) on a grid, in centimetres. It is moved by the column vector u, with top number 3 and bottom number 5, and then moved by the column vector v, with top number −7 and bottom number 2. Work out the coordinates of the bead's final position.
- 6.Sam says: '3.2 litres is the same as 320 ml, because you multiply by 100.' Which statement about Sam's claim is correct?
- 7.A photograph is 10 cm wide and 15 cm tall. It is enlarged to make a similar poster that is 40 cm wide. The poster costs £0.80 per centimetre of its height to print, based on its full height. Work out the cost of printing the poster.
- 8.A scale drawing uses a scale of 1 : 60. A path on the drawing is measured as 9.8 cm long. What is the real length of the path, in metres, to 1 decimal place?
- 9.A sector of a circle has radius 6 cm and angle 150°. Using π = 3.14, work out the perimeter of the sector.
- 10.In triangle ABC, BC = 8 cm, AC = 10 cm and angle BAC = 40°. Given that angle ABC is acute, work out its size. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 11.In triangle ABC, AB = 10 cm, BC = 7 cm and angle ACB = 35°. Given that angle BAC is acute, work out the length of AC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 12.In triangle ABC, AB = 12 cm, AC = 7 cm and the area of the triangle is 33 cm². Given that angle BAC is obtuse, work out the size of angle BAC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 13.A sector of a circle has radius 9 cm and angle 120°. Using π = 3.14, work out the arc length of the sector, to 1 decimal place.
- 14.A support strut for a shed roof is in the shape of a right-angled triangle. The two shorter sides of the strut are 5 m and 9 m. Work out the length of the sloping strut (the hypotenuse). Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 15.A robotic arm's tip starts at the point (12.5, −4.25) on a grid measured in centimetres. It moves by the vector to pick up a component, then by the vector to place it. Work out the coordinates of the tip after both moves.
