- 1.OABC is a parallelogram, with OA = a and OC = c. M is the midpoint of OC, and N is the point on AC such that AN is twice NC. By finding the vectors MN and MB, show that M, N and B are collinear, and give the scalar k such that MN = k × MB.
- 2.A student says the reverse of the translation vector is . Write down the correct reverse translation vector.
- 3.A straight line crosses two parallel lines. One of the angles formed is (2x + 10)°, and the angle alternate to it is 74°. Work out the value of x.
- 4.A trapezium-shaped garden bed has parallel sides of 2.5 m and 4.5 m, and a perpendicular width of 3 m. A gardener wants to know the area of the bed before ordering topsoil. Work out the area of the garden bed.
- 5.Shape S is enlarged by a scale factor of −3 about a fixed centre. Which statement correctly describes the image compared to the original shape?
- 6.A pop-up canopy has two sloping supports that meet at the top. Each support makes an angle of 30° with the ground and is 6 m long. Using the exact value of cos 30°, work out the total width of the canopy's base.
- 7.A vertical flagpole casts a shadow 6 m long at the same time as a 1.2 m vertical post casts a shadow 1.8 m long. The flagpole and the post are both vertical, and the triangles formed by each object, its shadow, and the sun's ray are similar. Work out the height of the flagpole.
- 8.An isosceles trapezium has exactly one pair of parallel sides, and its two non-parallel sides are equal in length. How many lines of symmetry does it have?
- 9.Two identical ladders lean against the same vertical wall from opposite sides, each making an angle of 58.2° with the ground. The two ladders and the ground form a triangle. Work out the size of the angle between the two ladders at the top, where they meet.
- 10.A rectangle has vertices A(1, 1), B(4, 1), C(4, 5) and D(1, 5). Work out the perimeter of the rectangle.
- 11.ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral, with its vertices in that order around the circle. Angle DAB = (2x + 10)° and angle DCB = (3x − 5)°. Work out the size of angle DAB.
- 12.Triangle DEF is isosceles, with DE = DF. Angle E = 58°. Give a reason why angle F = 58°.
- 13.A designer creates a repeating tile pattern. Each tile is translated from the one before it by the column vector with top number 4.5 and bottom number −2.5 (in centimetres). The first tile has its bottom-left corner at (1.5, 3). Work out the coordinates of the bottom-left corner of the third tile.
- 14.A drone starts at the point (3.5, −2) on a grid measured in metres. It flies by the vector to check a first sensor. The drone then needs to fly in a straight line to reach the point (−1.7, 9) to check a second sensor. Work out the column vector of this second flight.
- 15.Point P has coordinates (4, 2). P is rotated 90° clockwise about the point (1, 1), and the image is then reflected in the line x = 1. Work out the coordinates of the final image of P.
