- 1.Triangle T has vertices (1, 1), (3, 1) and (1, 4). It is mapped onto triangle T′ with vertices (5, −1), (3, −1) and (5, −4). Which single composition of two transformations maps T onto T′?
- 2.A cube has all of its edges the same length. How many planes of symmetry does it have?
- 3.A cylindrical drum and a cuboid box are being wrapped for a display. A shop assistant wraps only the flat faces of each item, not any curved surface. How many flat faces in total does the assistant wrap across both items?
- 4.A water tank holds 2.5 m³. Work out this volume in cm³.
- 5.ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral, with its vertices in that order around the circle. Angle DAB = (2x + 10)° and angle DCB = (3x − 5)°. Work out the size of angle DAB.
- 6.Shape S has an area of 48 cm². It is enlarged by a scale factor of 1/4 to give shape T. Work out the area of shape T.
- 7.ABCD is an isosceles trapezium. The sides AB and DC are parallel, and the two sloping sides AD and BC are equal in length. Angle D is 112°. Work out the size of angle B.
- 8.A, B, C and D are points on a circle with centre O, in that order around the circle. B lies on the major arc AC, and angle AOC = 152°. In triangle ACD, angle ACD = 30°. Work out the size of angle DAC.
- 9.Two triangular offcuts of wood, PQR and STU, are cut for a construction project. PQ = 8 cm, QR = 6 cm and angle PQR = 90°. ST = 8 cm, TU = 6 cm and angle STU = 90°. A carpenter wants to check the two pieces are identical in shape and size before using them as a matching pair. Using only the measurements given, and without working out any further lengths, which condition proves that triangle PQR is congruent to triangle STU?
- 10.Triangle ABC is translated by the column vector with top number 3 and bottom number −5 to form triangle A′B′C′. Triangle A′B′C′ is then translated by the column vector with top number −7 and bottom number 2 to form triangle A″B″C″. Work out the single column vector that translates triangle ABC directly to triangle A″B″C″.
- 11.A quadrilateral has two pairs of parallel sides. All four of its interior angles are right angles, but its sides are not all the same length. Which quadrilateral is this?
- 12.A student is asked to rearrange the cosine rule a² = b² + c² − 2bc cos A to make cos A the subject. They write: cos A = (a² − b² − c²) / (2bc). Is the student's rearrangement correct?
- 13.OABC is a parallelogram, with OA = a and OC = c. X is the midpoint of the diagonal AC. Express the vector OX in terms of a and c, and use it to show that X also lies on the diagonal OB.
- 14.Shape T has a vertex at (5, 3). T is enlarged by scale factor −1, centre (2, 1). Work out the coordinates of the image of the vertex (5, 3).
- 15.Point P has coordinates (6, 4). P is rotated 90° clockwise about the point (1, 2), and the image is then translated by the vector (−3, 5). Work out the coordinates of the final image of P.
