- 1.Four angles meet at a point. Three of them measure 82°, 105° and 96°. Work out the size of the fourth angle.
- 2.e is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number k. f is the column vector with top number 15 and bottom number 6. Given that f is 3 times e, work out the value of k.
- 3.A textbook contains the instruction 'Draw AB' and, on the next line, the statement 'AB = 5 cm'. Which statement about the notation AB is correct?
- 4.Shape S is enlarged by a scale factor of −3 about a fixed centre. Which statement correctly describes the image compared to the original shape?
- 5.A, B and C are points on a circle with centre O. B is on the major arc AC. Angle AOC = (4x + 20)°. Work out the size of angle ABC in terms of x, in its simplest form.
- 6.AT is a diameter of a circle with centre O. PT is a tangent to the circle at the point T, and P is a point on this tangent such that A, T and P form a triangle. Angle PAT = 28°. Work out the size of angle APT.
- 7.A vertical line passes through the point (5, 2). Write down the equation of this line.
- 8.A trundle wheel has a diameter of 0.5 m. It is rolled along the ground and makes 20 complete turns. Using π = 3.14, work out the total distance rolled, in metres.
- 9.A sailmaker cuts two triangular sail panels from a pattern. Panel X has a 10 m side, with angles of 50° and 75° at its two ends. Panel Y also has a 10 m side, with angles of 50° and 75° at its two ends, in the same arrangement. The sailmaker wants to check the panels will match exactly, without cutting a third measurement. Which condition proves the two panels are congruent?
- 10.A regular hexagon is divided into six identical triangles by joining its centre to each of the six vertices. Work out the size of the angle of one of these triangles at the centre of the hexagon.
- 11.In triangle ABC the angle at C is 90° and the hypotenuse AB is 12 cm. H is the point on AB for which CH is perpendicular to AB, and AH = 3 cm. Work out the length of AC.
- 12.Point Q has coordinates (3, 5). It is translated by the vector (1, −2), and the image is then enlarged by scale factor 3, centre the origin. Work out the coordinates of the final image of Q.
- 13.Point P is translated by the vector (5, −2), and the image is then rotated 90° clockwise about the origin to give the point (3, 9). Work out the coordinates of P.
- 14.A tank holds 3.2 m³ of water. Work out this volume in litres.
- 15.A builder lays a low wall made from identical bricks. The diagram shows the plan of the wall's footprint on a grid, where each square is one brick. The wall is built up to a height of 4 bricks everywhere. Work out the total number of bricks used.
