- 1.Line 1 passes through (0, 1) and (2, 5). Line 2 passes through (3, 2) and (5, 6). Work out the gradient of each line. Then write down whether the two lines are parallel.
- 2.A ramp's sloped surface crosses two horizontal parallel rails. At the top rail, the angle between the ramp and the rail on the right of the ramp is (3x + 10)°. At the bottom rail, the angle between the ramp and the rail on the left of the ramp is (5x − 30)°. Work out the value of x.
- 3.A shape is reflected in the line y = x, and the image is then reflected in the line y = 0. These two lines meet at the origin. Work out the single rotation, centre and angle, that is equivalent to this combination of two reflections, for every point.y = x
- 4.Work out the exact value of (sin 30°)² + (cos 30°)².
- 5.A triangular prism has a cross-section that is a triangle with a base of 3.5 cm and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. The prism is 10 cm long. Work out the volume of the prism.
- 6.ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral, with its vertices in that order around the circle. Angle DAB = 108°. Work out the size of angle BCD.
- 7.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. Side AB is 8 cm and corresponds to side PQ, which is 12 cm. Side AC is 6 cm and corresponds to side PR. Work out the length of PR.
- 8.A circular plate has a diameter of 20 cm. Work out the area of the plate. Use π = 3.14.
- 9.Shape S is enlarged by a scale factor of −3 about a fixed centre. Which statement correctly describes the image compared to the original shape?
- 10.State whether the line segment joining A(−4, 3) and B(2, 6) is horizontal, vertical or neither, and give a reason for your answer.
- 11.Triangle DEF is isosceles, with DE = DF. Angle E = 58°. Give a reason why angle F = 58°.
- 12.Put sin 30°, tan 30° and cos 30° in order of size, starting with the smallest.
- 13.A garden flower bed is in the shape of a trapezium. Its two parallel edges are 3.5 m and 6.5 m long, and the perpendicular distance between them is 4 m. Bedding plants cost £2.50 per square metre to cover the bed. Work out the total cost of the bedding plants.
- 14.A, B and C are points on a circle with centre O, and AC is a diameter of the circle. Work out the size of angle ABC.
- 15.In quadrilateral WXYZ, which of the following correctly names the angle at vertex Y using standard notation?
