- 1.A flower bed in the shape of a parallelogram has a base of 3.5 m and a perpendicular height of 2 m. Compost costs £4.80 per m². Work out the total cost of covering the flower bed with compost.
- 2.In one circle, chord PQ is 6 cm long, chord RS is 10 cm long, chord TU is 14 cm long and chord VW is 15 cm long. Write down which of these chords lies closest to the centre of the circle.
- 3.A roof truss is shaped like an isosceles triangle resting on a horizontal ceiling joist. The truss's sloping edges are equal in length, and the angle at its apex is 40°. The ceiling joist continues in a straight line beyond the foot of the truss. Work out the angle between the truss's sloping edge and the extended joist, on the outside of the truss.
- 4.A hexagon has interior angles of 130°, 142°, 125°, 150°, 135° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 5.A quadrilateral has exactly two lines of symmetry, its two pairs of opposite angles are equal, and its diagonals are not equal in length. Write down the name of this quadrilateral.
- 6.A rectangular name card has a perimeter of 30 cm. The card is 9 cm long. Work out the width of the card.
- 7.A trapezium-shaped allotment plot has two parallel sides that face each other, and two sloping sides that are equal in length (an isosceles trapezium). One of the angles next to the shorter parallel side is 118°. Work out the angle next to the other end of the same shorter parallel side.
- 8.A solid has two parallel, congruent polygon faces joined by flat rectangles, and its cross-section is the same shape all the way along its length. Which solid is it?
- 9.Work out the exact value of sin 30° + cos 60°.
- 10.AT is a diameter of a circle with centre O. PT is a tangent to the circle at the point T, and P is a point on this tangent such that A, T and P form a triangle. Angle PAT = 28°. Work out the size of angle APT.
- 11.The angle between north and a cycle path is 40°, but it is measured anticlockwise from north. What is the three-figure bearing of the cycle path?
