- 1.Triangle T has a vertex at (8, 4). It is enlarged by a scale factor of 1/2, centre (2, 4). Work out the coordinates of the image of this vertex.
- 2.A solid cube has a volume of 8 cm³. Work out the length of one edge of the cube.
- 3.Shape S is enlarged by scale factor −1, centre (0, 0). Which single transformation has the same overall effect as this enlargement, for every point?
- 4.From an external point P, two tangents PA and PB touch a circle with centre O at the points A and B. Angle APB = 50°. Work out the size of angle OAB.
- 5.A circle has circumference 31.4 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the radius of the circle.
- 6.A transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one line, the angle is (5x + 4)°. The corresponding angle at the other line is (3x + 24)°. Work out the value of x.
- 7.A shape is translated by the vector and then by the vector . Write down the single column vector that has the same effect as those two translations together.
- 8.A student says the reverse of the translation vector is . Write down the correct reverse translation vector.
- 9.Work out the y-coordinate of the midpoint of the line segment joining (2, 4) and (8, 10).
- 10.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. AB corresponds to PQ, and BC corresponds to QR. AB = 5 cm, PQ = 15 cm and BC = 7 cm. Work out the length of QR.
- 11.Point A has coordinates (2, 5). Point A is translated to point B using the column vector with top number 6 and bottom number −3. Write down the coordinates of point B.
- 12.Triangles ABE and CDE share the vertex E, where lines AC and BD cross at E. AE equals CE, and BE equals DE. Angle AEB and angle CED are formed as vertically opposite angles where the lines cross. Which condition proves that triangle ABE is congruent to triangle CDE?
- 13.Triangle T has a vertex A at (4, 6). It is enlarged by a scale factor of −1/2, centre (2, 2). Work out the coordinates of the image of point A.
- 14.A tangent to a circle touches the circle at exactly one point, P. Work out the size of the angle between the tangent and the radius drawn to P.
- 15.A rectangular photograph has an area of 96 cm². One of its sides is 8 cm long. Work out the length of the other side.
