- 1.Which of the following is the correct definition of a regular polygon?
- 2.A designer creates a repeating tile pattern. Each tile is translated from the one before it by the column vector with top number 4.5 and bottom number −2.5 (in centimetres). The first tile has its bottom-left corner at (1.5, 3). Work out the coordinates of the bottom-left corner of the third tile.
- 3.A solid cylinder is lying on its curved side on a table, with its circular ends facing left and right. What shape is its plan view, looking down from above?
- 4.A shape is translated by the vector , and one vertex of the image is at the point (1, 6). The original shape is instead translated by the vector . Work out the coordinates of the image of that same vertex under this second translation.
- 5.Triangle T has a vertex A at (3, 1). It is enlarged by a scale factor of −2, centre (1, 1). Work out the coordinates of the image of point A.
- 6.A chord divides a circle into two regions, one larger than the other. Write down the term used for the smaller of these two regions.
- 7.A packaging designer is told a box has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices, and every face is a rectangle. To fit exactly onto a shelf, the designer needs to know whether the box must be a cube. Based only on this information, which solid must the box be?
- 8.Points A, B, C and D lie on a circle with centre O, in that order around the circle, and AC is a diameter. Which of the following circle facts does NOT apply to this diagram?
- 9.Line l1 has equation x = 2, and line l2 has equation y = x − 1. They intersect at a single point. A shape is reflected in l1, and the image is then reflected in l2. Which point is invariant under this combined transformation?y = x − 1
- 10.Lines AB and CD are parallel. A straight line EF crosses AB at point P and crosses CD at point Q. At P, angle APE = 65°. Angle APE and angle BPQ are vertically opposite. Angle BPQ and angle PQD are co-interior (allied) angles. Work out angle PQD.
- 11.A ship's radio can be heard up to 30 km from the ship. A lighthouse's light can be seen up to 20 km from the lighthouse. The ship and the lighthouse are 40 km apart along the coast. Describe the region where BOTH the radio can be heard AND the light can be seen.
- 12.A hexagon has interior angles of 130°, 142°, 125°, 150°, 135° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 13.A triangular flag has a base of 40 cm and a perpendicular height of 25 cm. Work out its area.
- 14.Triangle ABC has AB = 5 cm and BC = 7 cm. Triangle DEF has DE = 5 cm and EF = 7 cm. Which extra fact would prove the triangles are congruent by SAS?
- 15.A transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one line, the angle is (5x + 4)°. The corresponding angle at the other line is (3x + 24)°. Work out the value of x.
