- 1.Triangle T has a vertex at (8, 4). It is enlarged by a scale factor of 1/2, centre (2, 4). Work out the coordinates of the image of this vertex.
- 2.An isosceles trapezium has exactly one pair of parallel sides, and its two non-parallel sides are equal in length. How many lines of symmetry does it have?
- 3.p is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 3. q is the column vector with top number −1 and bottom number 4. Work out 2p + q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 4.Point E is at (4, 2). It is rotated 180° about the point (1, 1). Work out the coordinates of the image of point E.
- 5.Two triangles are similar. The sides of the first triangle are 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm. The shortest side of the second triangle is 9 cm. Work out the scale factor from the first triangle to the second.
- 6.Two similar ponds have perimeters in the ratio 4 : 11. The perimeter of the larger pond is 88 m. Work out the perimeter of the smaller pond.
- 7.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. Side AB is 8 cm and corresponds to side PQ, which is 12 cm. Side AC is 6 cm and corresponds to side PR. Work out the length of PR.
- 8.A radar station is at the origin of a grid, where each unit represents 1 km. A boat is detected at the point (7, 24). Work out the boat's distance from the station, then work out how many hours it will take the boat to reach the station travelling directly towards it at 5 km per hour.
- 9.In geometry, which of the following best describes a 'plane'?
- 10.The angle between north and a cycle path is 40°, but it is measured anticlockwise from north. What is the three-figure bearing of the cycle path?
- 11.A designer plots a logo point at (3, 4) on a grid. She reflects it in the line y = 1 and then rotates the image 90° clockwise about the point (1, 1) to create a repeating tile pattern. Work out the coordinates of the point after both transformations.
- 12.A parallelogram has an area of 96 cm² and a base of 8 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 13.A quadrilateral has two pairs of parallel sides. All four of its interior angles are right angles, but its sides are not all the same length. Which quadrilateral is this?
- 14.A path goes from A(1, 1) to B(1, 5), then from B to C(6, 5). Work out the total length of the path from A to C.
- 15.Point B is at (3, 5). It is reflected in the line y = 2. Work out the coordinates of the image of point B.
