- 1.Point Q has coordinates (3, 5). It is translated by the vector (1, −2), and the image is then enlarged by scale factor 3, centre the origin. Work out the coordinates of the final image of Q.
- 2.A shape is reflected in the line y = x, and the image is then reflected in the line y = 0. These two lines meet at the origin. Work out the single rotation, centre and angle, that is equivalent to this combination of two reflections, for every point.y = x
- 3.A parallelogram has an area of 84 cm² and a base of 12 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 4.Work out the distance between the points (−3, 4) and (5, −2).
- 5.A game designer places a coin at (5, 3) on a grid. The game rotates the coin 90° clockwise about the point (2, 3) each time the player presses a button, and this is applied twice in a row. Work out the coordinates of the coin after the button is pressed twice.
- 6.A line passes through the points (1, 2) and (3, 6). The line is reflected in the x-axis, and the image is then translated by the vector (2, 0). Work out the gradient of the image line after both transformations.
- 7.Point P has coordinates (1, 3). P is reflected in the line x = 4, then the image is reflected in the line y = 1, and then that image is translated by the vector (2, −3). Work out the coordinates of the final image of P.
- 8.A tank holds 3.2 m³ of water. Work out this volume in litres.
- 9.A tile is described as having two pairs of parallel sides, four equal sides, and diagonals that cross at right angles but are not equal in length. Give a reason why this tile cannot be a square.
- 10.What does the statement AB = CD mean, where A, B, C and D are all points?
- 11.Two similar triangular flower beds have lengths in the ratio 3 : 7. The area of the smaller bed is 45 m². Work out the area of the larger bed.
- 12.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. Side AB is 8 cm and corresponds to side PQ, which is 12 cm. Side AC is 6 cm and corresponds to side PR. Work out the length of PR.
- 13.AT is a diameter of a circle with centre O. PT is a tangent to the circle at the point T, and P is a point on this tangent such that A, T and P form a triangle. Angle PAT = 28°. Work out the size of angle APT.
- 14.A hexagon has interior angles of 130°, 142°, 125°, 150°, 135° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 15.Line 1 passes through (0, 1) and (2, 5). Line 2 passes through (3, 2) and (5, 6). Work out the gradient of each line. Then write down whether the two lines are parallel.
