- 1.A warehouse stores identical cube-shaped crates. Its plan view is a 2 by 4 rectangle of crate positions, and every position is filled to a height of 3 crates, except one corner position, which has only 2 crates stacked on it because a delivery was incomplete. How many crates are there in total?
- 2.A circle has diameter 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the circumference of the circle.
- 3.Each of these has an exact value. Write down the one whose value is the greatest.
- 4.In triangle OAB, OA = a and OB = b. P is the point on OA such that OP = (1/3)a, and Q is the point on OB such that OQ = (1/3)b. Express the vector PQ in terms of a and b.
- 5.The diagram shows a cuboid. Work out the area of its front elevation, in square centimetres.
- 6.A, B and C are points on a circle with centre O, and AC is a diameter of the circle. Work out the size of angle ABC.
- 7.Lines GH and JK are parallel. A straight line crosses GH at point M and crosses JK at point N. Angle HMN = 71°. Angle HMN and angle MNK are alternate angles. Work out angle MNK.
- 8.From an external point P, two tangents PA and PB touch a circle with centre O at the points A and B. Angle APB = 46°. C is a point on the major arc AB, the arc on the opposite side of AB from P. Work out the size of angle ACB.
- 9.In cyclic quadrilateral ABCD, with vertices in that order around the circle, the diagonal BD is drawn. In triangle ABD, angle ABD = 35° and angle ADB = 65°. Side DC is extended beyond C to a point E. Work out the size of angle BCE.
- 10.Triangle ABC is right-angled at B. Triangle DEF is right-angled at E. AB = DE = 6 cm and AC = DF = 10 cm (AC and DF are the hypotenuses of their triangles). A student says this is not enough information to prove the triangles are congruent, because only two sides are given. Which reason shows the student is wrong?
- 11.An enlargement with scale factor 5 maps the point (4, 1) to the point (12, 9). Which of these points is invariant (does not move) under this enlargement?
- 12.p is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 3. q is the column vector with top number −1 and bottom number 4. Work out 2p + q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 13.A quadrilateral has exactly two lines of symmetry, its two pairs of opposite angles are equal, and its diagonals are not equal in length. Write down the name of this quadrilateral.
- 14.Triangle DEF is isosceles, with DE = DF. Angle E = 58°. Give a reason why angle F = 58°.
- 15.Two circles are drawn with the same centre but different radii. Write down the term used to describe this pair of circles.
