- 1.AT is a diameter of a circle with centre O. PT is a tangent to the circle at the point T, and P is a point on this tangent such that A, T and P form a triangle. Angle PAT = 28°. Work out the size of angle APT.
- 2.A, B and C are points on a circle with centre O, and AC is a diameter of the circle. Work out the size of angle ABC.
- 3.A game designer places a coin at (5, 3) on a grid. The game rotates the coin 90° clockwise about the point (2, 3) each time the player presses a button, and this is applied twice in a row. Work out the coordinates of the coin after the button is pressed twice.
- 4.A, B, C and D are points on a circle with centre O, in that order around the circle. B lies on the major arc AC, and angle AOC = 152°. In triangle ACD, angle ACD = 30°. Work out the size of angle DAC.
- 5.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 10 cm. One of its other angles is 45°. Work out the exact length of one of the two shorter sides.
- 6.A scale model of a bridge is built so that 2 cm on the model represents 5 m of the real bridge. The real bridge is 45 m long. Work out the length of the model bridge, in centimetres.
- 7.A ferris wheel's circular frame has centre O. A support strut runs from O to a point A on the rim, and a second strut runs from O to point B on the rim, with angle AOB = 76°. A cabin is mounted at point C on the major arc AB, and D is a separate point on the minor arc AB. Work out the difference between angle ACB and angle ADB.
- 8.A solid has 5 faces: one square face and four triangular faces, which all meet at a single point above the square. What is the name of this solid?
- 9.A circle has centre O. Radii OA and OB are drawn, together with the arc AB, enclosing a sector. The straight chord AB is also drawn. Write down the name of the region enclosed between the chord AB and the arc AB.
- 10.Work out the exact value of (cos 45°)² + (sin 45°)².
- 11.In quadrilateral ABCD the two sides AB and BC are each 6 cm long and meet each other at B. The two sides CD and DA are each 9 cm long and meet each other at D. No side of ABCD is parallel to any other side. Write down the mathematical name of this quadrilateral.
- 12.Triangle ABC has AB = 9 cm, BC = 6 cm and angle A = 35°. Triangle DEF has DE = 9 cm, EF = 6 cm and angle D = 35°. Which of the following correctly identifies the condition shown here?
- 13.A straight line crosses two parallel lines. One of the angles formed is (2x + 10)°, and the angle alternate to it is 74°. Work out the value of x.
- 14.A cuboid has length 3 cm, width 4 cm and height 12 cm. Work out the length of the diagonal that runs from one corner of the cuboid to the opposite corner.
- 15.A circle has diameter 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the circumference of the circle.
