- 1.Work out the exact value of (sin 30°)² + (cos 30°)².
- 2.A tap fills a tank at a rate of 18 litres per minute. The tank holds 0.45 m³. Work out how long the tap takes to fill the tank.
- 3.A transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one line, the angle is (5x + 4)°. The corresponding angle at the other line is (3x + 24)°. Work out the value of x.
- 4.A map has a scale of 1 : 25000. A distance between two points measures 2 cm on the map. What is the real distance, in kilometres?
- 5.A circle has centre O. PQ, RS and TU are three chords of the circle, and only one of them passes through O. Write down what this tells you about that chord.
- 6.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. Side AB is 8 cm and corresponds to side PQ, which is 12 cm. Side AC is 6 cm and corresponds to side PR. Work out the length of PR.
- 7.Triangle T has an area of 6 cm². It is enlarged by scale factor −2 about the origin, and the image is then rotated 90° about the origin. Work out the area of the final image, and state whether it is the same way round as T or a mirror image of it.
- 8.A straight line crosses a pair of parallel lines. One of the co-interior (allied) angles is 118°. Work out the size of the other co-interior angle.
- 9.Every diameter of a circle is an example of a more general type of straight line joining two points on the circle. Which term names that more general type of line?
- 10.The point R(−6, 9) is translated by the vector . Write down the coordinates of the image of R.
- 11.Points A, B, C and D lie on a circle with centre O, in that order around the circle, and AC is a diameter. Which of the following circle facts does NOT apply to this diagram?
- 12.Which of these statements about solving a triangle is correct?
- 13.Line l1 has equation x = 2, and line l2 has equation y = x − 1. They intersect at a single point. A shape is reflected in l1, and the image is then reflected in l2. Which point is invariant under this combined transformation?y = x − 1
- 14.A chord divides a circle into two segments of different sizes. Write down the name given to the smaller of the two segments.
- 15.A line passes through the points (1, 2) and (3, 6). The line is reflected in the x-axis, and the image is then translated by the vector (2, 0). Work out the gradient of the image line after both transformations.
