- 1.Work out (6 × 10⁷) + (3 × 10⁶). Give your answer in standard form.
- 2.A water tank holds 80 litres when full. It currently contains 60 litres. Work out what fraction of the tank is empty.
- 3.The error interval for the mass of a suitcase, m kg, is given as 22.5 ≤ m < 23.5. Write down the mass of the suitcase, correct to the nearest whole number.

- 8.By listing systematically, work out how many two-digit multiples of 5 can be made using the digits 0, 3 and 5, if each digit can be used at most once and the number cannot start with 0.
- 9.A train journey takes 45 minutes, correct to the nearest 5 minutes. Using t for the actual time of the journey in minutes, write down the error interval for t.
- 10.Given that 2⁵ = 32, work out 2⁶.
- 11.A crowd of 8,400 people is recorded correct to the nearest 100. Work out the smallest possible number of people in the crowd.
- 12.A charity raffle sells 240 tickets at £1.85 each. 40% of the money raised is given to a local hospital. Work out how much money the hospital receives.
- 13.Work out (8 × 10⁻⁵) × (5 × 10³). Give your answer in standard form.
- 14.After a price increase of 10%, a laptop costs £330. Work out the original price.
