- 1.On a number line, point A is at −1. Point B is 4 units from point A. Write down the two possible positions of point B.

- 8.A square petri dish has an area of 121 mm². A scientist wants to know its side length. Work out the side length of the dish.
- 9.A length, L cm, has the error interval 24.5 ≤ L < 25.5. Write down the degree of accuracy to which the length was measured.
- 10.4ˣ = 64. Work out the value of x.
- 11.Work out (−6) + (−4) × 3
- 12.A florist has 60 red roses and 84 white roses. She wants to make identical bunches using all the flowers, with the greatest possible number of bunches. Work out how many red roses will be in each bunch.
- 13.Write these three numbers in order of size, starting with the smallest: 0.7, 3/4, 0.72
- 14.The thickness of a sheet of card is 0.02384 cm. Write this thickness correct to 2 significant figures.
- 15.The number 72 can be written as 2³ × 3², and the number 108 can be written as 2² × 3³. Work out the highest common factor of 72 and 108.
