- 1.A recipe for one cake needs 2/3 of a cup of sugar. Priya has 3 1/2 cups of sugar. Work out how many complete cakes she can make.
- 2.Work out (−3) × 4 + 2 × (−5)
- 3.Work out −4.5 + 2.8.
- 4.Sam compares 0.6 and 5/8 by comparing the digit 6 with the digit 5, and says that 0.6 is the larger number. Convert 5/8 to a decimal to find the correct larger value.

- 12.A gym increases its membership price by 1/5. The original price is £60. Work out the new price.
- 13.Last year a company made a profit of £5,200,000. Write this amount in standard form.
- 14.A number is divided by 5, then 6 is subtracted, giving the result −1. Work out the number.
- 15.The number 24 can be written as 2³ × 3, and the number 60 can be written as 2² × 3 × 5. Work out the lowest common multiple of 24 and 60.
