- 1.A car travels 180 km using 6 litres of fuel. Work out the car's fuel consumption in kilometres per litre, then work out how many kilometres it can travel on a full tank of 12 litres at this rate.
- 2.A spreadsheet shows that 812 − 397 = 315. Work out an estimate for 812 − 397, by rounding each number to the nearest 100, to check whether the spreadsheet's answer is reasonable.
- 3.Grace works out 7 × 99 by writing 99 as 100 − 1. Use her method to work out 7 × 99.
- 4.A country has an area of 25,000,000 hectares. Write this area in standard form.
- 5.Two-digit numbers are made using the digits 1, 2, 3 and 4, and no digit may be used twice in the same number. Work out how many different two-digit numbers can be made.

- 7.A number is multiplied by 4, then 8 is added, giving the result 40. Work out the number.

- 11.Two-digit numbers are formed using the digits 2, 5, 7 and 8, and each digit may be used only once in a number. Work out how many of these two-digit numbers are even.

- 13.£60 is shared between Amir, Bo and Chen in the ratio 1:2:3. Work out the fraction of the £60 that Amir and Bo receive together.
- 14.Round 592.5 to the nearest 10.
- 15.Work out an estimate for 6.4 × 3.9, by rounding each number to the nearest whole number.
