- 1.Maya buys 4 plants at £3.20 each and a bag of compost for £6.75. She pays with a £20 note. Work out her change.

- 8.A plank has length a = 12 cm and a second plank has length b = 7 cm, each correct to the nearest centimetre. Work out the upper bound of a + b.
- 9.Work out 3 1/5 + 1 2/3. Give your answer as a mixed number in its simplest form.
- 10.A cake recipe needs 3/4 of a kilogram of sugar. Aisha wants to make half the recipe. Work out how much sugar she needs, giving your answer as a fraction of a kilogram in its simplest form.
- 11.The two shorter sides of a right-angled triangle are √12 cm and √24 cm. Work out the exact length of the hypotenuse.
- 12.Work out an estimate for 79.3 − 24.6, by rounding each number to the nearest whole number.
- 13.Work out (2 × 10³) × (3 × 10⁴). Give your answer in standard form.
- 14.In a youth club the number of girls is 2/3 of the number of boys. What fraction of the members of the club are girls?
