- 1.Work out (5 + 2) × 3²

- 4.A concrete mix is made from cement and sand in the ratio 3 : 5 by mass. A builder mixes 96 kg of concrete. Work out the mass of cement in the mix.

- 11.A rope is measured as 15 m, correct to the nearest metre. Write down the error interval for the true length, l, of the rope.
- 12.Work out an estimate for 588 ÷ 31, by rounding each number to 1 significant figure.
- 13.Work out (2/3)² + (1/2)². Give your answer as a fraction.
- 14.Simplify x⁵ × x³ ÷ x², giving your answer as a single power of x.
- 15.A bag holds 50 counters. 2/5 of them are red and the rest are blue. 5 red counters are then taken out of the bag. Work out the new ratio of red counters to blue counters. Give your answer in its simplest form.
