- 1.Which of these statements about −0.7 and −0.25 is true?
- 2.Given that 4³ = 64 and 5³ = 125, estimate ∛100 to 1 decimal place.
- 3.A measuring jug shows a volume of 340 ml, correct to the nearest 20 ml. Work out the smallest possible volume in the jug.
- 4.A rectangular patio measures 90 cm by 120 cm. Ben wants to cover it exactly with identical square tiles, as large as possible, with no tiles cut. Work out the side length of the largest square tile he can use.
- 5.Work out 1 1/2 ÷ 3/4 exactly, giving your answer in its simplest form.
- 6.A company sells 4 × 10³ items per day, each priced at £2.50. It operates for 3 × 10² days a year. Work out the company's total revenue for the year. Give your answer in standard form.

- 8.The length of a pencil is 8.4 cm, correct to 1 decimal place. Using L for the length of the pencil in centimetres, write down the error interval for L.

- 12.By considering fourth powers, work out which two consecutive integers ⁴√200 lies between.
- 13.In a class, 1/3 of the pupils are girls. There are 12 girls in the class. Work out how many pupils are in the class.
- 14.Write 60 as a product of its prime factors, using index notation.
- 15.Work out 100 − 4 × 5²
