- 1.Work out how many factors 36 has.
- 2.Work out √144 − 2 × 3 + √25
- 3.Simplify (5² × 2³)³ ÷ (5³ × 2²)²
- 4.The recurring decimal 0.181818... can be written as 0.18 recurring, where both digits repeat forever. Let x = 0.18 recurring. Work out x as a fraction in its simplest form.
- 5.A number is divided by 5, then 6 is subtracted, giving the result −1. Work out the number.
- 6.Work out (−36) ÷ (−6) × 2
- 7.Write 0.06 as a fraction in its simplest form.
- 8.A café meal deal is one sandwich, one snack and one drink. There are 4 different sandwiches, 3 different snacks and 2 different drinks to choose from. Work out how many different meal deals are possible.

- 10.The distance from the Earth to the Moon is 384,000 km. Write this distance in standard form, in kilometres.
- 11.The diameter of an artificial silk fibre is 4 × 10⁻⁶ metres. One nanometre is 10⁻⁹ metres. Work out the diameter of the fibre in nanometres.
- 12.A school orders 187 packed lunches for a trip. Each packed lunch costs £4.85. The school has £900 to spend. By rounding each number to 1 significant figure, work out an estimate for the total cost and decide whether £900 is enough.

- 15.A company sells 4 × 10³ items per day, each priced at £2.50. It operates for 3 × 10² days a year. Work out the company's total revenue for the year. Give your answer in standard form.
