Maths Space Invaders — a maths shooting game
Alien ships descend from above, each carrying a question. Shoot the one whose answer is correct.
What you practise here
The four operations under time pressure, with an emphasis on filtering: several questions are on screen at once and you have to pick the right one out of them.
How to play
Move the cannon with the arrow keys and fire with the space bar or a tap. Hitting the ship with the correct answer scores points; hitting the wrong one costs a life. The round ends when a ship reaches the ground.
Who it's for, and why it works
Year 1 to GCSE.
When several questions sit on screen together, you can't solve them one at a time — you have to scan, identify and decide. That's a different skill from a worksheet, and it's exactly what a paper full of questions demands.
