- 1.Write down the coefficient of p in the expression 7 − 4p + 9q.

- 11.The graph of y = (x − 2)(x + 5) crosses the x-axis at two points. Work out the x-coordinates of these two points.
- 12.Tom buys 2 notebooks and 6 pencils on Monday, priced at p pence each for a notebook and q pence each for a pencil. On Tuesday he buys 3 more notebooks and 1 more pencil. Write a simplified expression, in pence, for the total amount Tom has spent on notebooks and pencils.
- 13.Priya has a budget of £50 for a school trip. The coach costs £14 and each student ticket costs £4. Using the inequality 14 + 4s ≤ 50, work out the greatest number of student tickets, s, she can buy.
- 14.The first five square numbers are 1, 4, 9, 16, 25. Write down the next square number in the sequence.
- 15.The nth term of a sequence is n² + 3. Work out the first term of the sequence that is greater than 50.
