- 1.Solve the inequality 3x + 6 ≤ 0.
- 2.A cyclist's journey is shown on a distance–time graph. The graph is a straight line from (0 minutes, 0 km) to (40 minutes, 12 km). Work out her speed in kilometres per hour.
- 3.Write down the expression that means the same as m² × m × 3.
- 4.Solve x² − 6x = 0.
- 5.The first five cube numbers are 1, 8, 27, 64, 125. Write down the next cube number in the sequence.
- 6.A pattern is made from tiles. Pattern 1 has 7 tiles, pattern 2 has 11 tiles, pattern 3 has 15 tiles, and pattern 4 has 19 tiles, with each new pattern having 4 more tiles than the one before it. Work out an expression, in terms of n, for the number of tiles in pattern n.
- 7.A straight line passes through the points (1, 3) and (2, 5). Work out the equation of the line.
- 8.The formula for the volume of a cuboid is V = lwh, where l is the length, w is the width and h is the height. Make h the subject of the formula.
- 9.Write down the expression that means the same as w ÷ 6.
- 10.A water butt holds 200 litres and is being drained at a steady 8 litres per minute. Write down the function for the amount of water y, in litres, left after x minutes.
- 11.The diagram shows the graph of a quadratic function. Which equation could it represent?
- 12.Work out the coordinates of the midpoint of the line segment joining (−3, 5) and (7, 9).
- 13.The graph of y = x² − 5x + 6 crosses the x-axis at two points. By factorising, work out the x-coordinates of these two points.y = x² − 5x + 6
- 14.y = x + 10. Work out the value of y when x = 0.y = x + 10
- 15.A sequence starts at 2. Each term after that is found using the rule "double the previous term, then add 1". Work out the 4th term of the sequence.
