- 1.Solve 3x + 14 = 8x − 6
- 2.A rule turns each input x into an output y. The inputs are x = 0, 1, 2, 3 and the outputs are y = 4, 7, 10, 13. Work out the output when x = 5.
- 3.The nth term of a sequence is 4n − 3. Work out the 7th term of the sequence.

- 12.A scout leader is 44 years old and one of the scouts is 16 years old. Work out how many years it will be until the leader is exactly twice as old as the scout.

- 14.In a sequence, each term is half the term before it. The sequence begins 100, 50, 25. Write down the next term.
- 15.The nth term of a sequence is 2n² + 1. Work out the 4th term of the sequence.
