- 1.Work out the value of 4p² − 3 when p = 2.5
- 2.Solve the inequality 6x ≥ 18.
- 3.The point P has coordinates (0, 12). Write down the axis that P lies on and the y-coordinate of P.
- 4.The formula for the profit, £P, made on an item is P = S − C, where S is the selling price and C is the cost price. Make S the subject of the formula.
- 5.The first four terms of a sequence are 9, 14, 19, 24. Work out an expression, in terms of n, for the nth term.
- 6.Solve 3(2x − 1) = 27
- 7.Make x the subject of the formula y = 2x − 9.y = 2x − 9
- 8.A graph shows the total monthly cost of a mobile phone tariff against the number of minutes of calls. The line starts at £12 and stays level until 200 minutes, then rises by 5p for each further minute of calls. Use the graph to work out the total cost of a month in which 250 minutes of calls are made.
- 9.A pattern is made from tiles. Pattern 1 uses 4 tiles, pattern 2 uses 7 tiles, pattern 3 uses 10 tiles and pattern 4 uses 13 tiles, with each pattern using 3 more tiles than the one before. Work out an expression, in terms of n, for the number of tiles used in pattern n.
- 10.Point R has coordinates (3, −5). Point R is reflected in the line y = 2 to point S. Write down the coordinates of S.
- 11.y = x + 10. Work out the value of y when x = 0.y = x + 10
- 12.Make p the subject of the formula n = p/3.
- 13.Solve the inequality 5x − 3 > 2x + 9.
- 14.Work out the gradient of the straight line with equation y = (2x/5) − 3.
- 15.The graph of y = 20/x is drawn for x > 0. As the value of x increases, what happens to the value of y?
