- 1.A tank holds 3.2 m³ of water. Work out this volume in litres.
- 2.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 14 cm. One of the other angles is 30°. Work out the exact length of the side opposite the 30° angle.
- 3.The point R(−6, 9) is translated by the vector . Write down the coordinates of the image of R.
- 4.Triangle T has a vertex at (8, 4). It is enlarged by a scale factor of 1/2, centre (2, 4). Work out the coordinates of the image of this vertex.
- 5.Work out the exact value of cos 0° − sin 30°.
- 6.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. AB corresponds to PQ, and BC corresponds to QR. AB = 5 cm, PQ = 15 cm and BC = 7 cm. Work out the length of QR.
- 7.Write down the exact value of cos 30°.
- 8.A shopkeeper builds a display from two cuboid boxes, shown in the diagram. She wants to cover the front of the display with coloured paper. Work out the total area of the front elevation, in square centimetres.
- 9.The diagram shows a solid built from identical cubes. How many squares are in its plan view, the view looking straight down from above?
- 10.In triangle ABC, angle A is 2x°, angle B is 3x° and angle C is 4x°. Work out the size of angle B.
- 11.A dog is tied by a lead 4 m long to a fixed ring on a straight garden wall. The wall extends much further than the lead can reach in both directions, and the dog cannot cross through it. Describe the region the dog can reach.
- 12.Triangle LMN has a right angle at M, with hypotenuse LN = 15 cm and LM = 9 cm. Triangle PQR has a right angle at Q, with hypotenuse PR = 15 cm and PQ = 9 cm. Which condition proves the two triangles are congruent?
- 13.Which of these correctly compares a 'line' with a 'line segment'?
- 14.A submarine travels due south. What is the three-figure bearing for this direction?
- 15.Triangle ABC has a right angle at B and hypotenuse AC = 17 cm, with AB = 8 cm. Triangle DEF has a right angle at E and hypotenuse DF = 17 cm. Which extra fact about DEF would complete the RHS condition for proving that ABC ≅ DEF, with the vertices matching in that order?
