- 1.A circular tabletop has a radius of 15 cm. Work out the area of the tabletop. Use π = 3.14. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 2.A solid cube has a volume of 8 cm³. Work out the length of one edge of the cube.
- 3.A parallelogram has a base of 20 cm and a sloping side of 13 cm. The perpendicular drawn from the top of that sloping side down to the base meets the base 5 cm from the foot of the sloping side, so the perpendicular, the 5 cm and the 13 cm sloping side form a right-angled triangle. Work out the area of the parallelogram.
- 4.Triangle T has a vertex at (2, 1). It is enlarged by a scale factor of 3, centre (0, 0). Work out the coordinates of the image of this vertex.
- 5.A triangular flag has a base of 40 cm and a perpendicular height of 25 cm. Work out its area.
- 6.A rhombus has all four sides equal in length. Write down how many pairs of parallel sides a rhombus has.
- 7.A water tank is a cube with edges of length 2 m. Work out how many cubic centimetres the tank holds when it is full.
- 8.Triangle ABC has AB = 6 cm and BC = 9 cm, with angle A = 40°. Triangle DEF has DE = 6 cm and EF = 9 cm, with angle D = 40°. Meera says these facts prove the triangles are congruent by SAS. Is Meera correct?
- 9.A map has a scale of 1 cm : 5 km. A road is drawn 3 cm long on the map. What is the real length of the road?
- 10.A zip wire is fixed at an angle of 50° to the horizontal, running from a high platform down to the ground. The zip wire itself, from the platform to the ground, is 12 m long. Work out the horizontal distance covered by the zip wire. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 11.Line 1 passes through (0, 1) and (2, 5). Line 2 passes through (3, 2) and (5, 6). Work out the gradient of each line. Then write down whether the two lines are parallel.
- 12.A square-based pyramid has a square base and four identical triangular sloping faces, with its apex directly above the centre of the base. How many planes of symmetry does it have?
- 13.Two angles are supplementary. One of them is twice the size of the other. Work out the size of the smaller angle.
- 14.A polygon has 12 straight sides. What is the mathematical name for this polygon?
- 15.A cuboid has a length, width and height that are all different from each other. How many planes of symmetry does it have?
