- 1.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 29 cm and one shorter side of 20 cm. Work out the length of the other shorter side.
- 2.A sprinkler waters a sector-shaped patch of a garden with radius 8 m and angle 90°. Work out the perimeter of the watered sector, to 1 decimal place. (Use π = 3.14.)
- 3.A footpath sign shows a distance of 0.45 km to the next village. Work out this distance in metres.
- 4.The point (5, −2) is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image point.
- 5.A trapezium has parallel sides of length 6 cm and 10 cm, and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out its area.
- 6.A circular clock face has a radius of 9 cm. Work out the circumference of the clock face. Use π = 3.14. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 7.Triangle ABC and triangle DEF both contain a right angle, at B and E respectively, and the hypotenuses AC and DF are equal in length. Which extra fact would prove the triangles are congruent by RHS?
- 8.A train leaves Leeds at 08:47 and arrives in London at 11:05. Work out how long the journey takes.
- 9.A circular garden pond has a diameter of 5 m. A gardener is laying gravel around it in a ring-shaped path 1 m wide, measured outward from the edge of the pond. Work out the area of the gravel path. Use π = 3.14.
- 10.Write down the name given to a triangle whose three sides are all the same length.
- 11.A sector of a circle is bounded by two straight edges and one curved edge. Write down the mathematical term for each of the two straight edges.
- 12.A parallelogram has an area of 84 cm² and a base of 12 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 13.A circular table mat has diameter 20 cm. Yasmin has a 70 cm length of ribbon and sews it around the edge of the mat with no overlap. Using π = 3.14, work out how much ribbon is left over after going around the mat once.
- 14.A solid has 4 triangular faces, 4 vertices and 6 edges. What is the name of this solid?
- 15.A drone starts at the point (2, −3) on a coordinate grid. It flies by the vector and then by the vector . Write down the column vector that would take the drone straight back to its starting point.
