- 1.A jug holds 750 ml of water. Work out what fraction of a litre this is.
- 2.In parallelogram ABCD the vertices are labelled in order round the shape, so angle A and angle B are at the two ends of the same side. Angle A is 70°. Work out the size of angle B.
- 3.A support strut for a shed roof is in the shape of a right-angled triangle. The two shorter sides of the strut are 5 m and 9 m. Work out the length of the sloping strut (the hypotenuse). Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 4.A train leaves Leeds at 08:47 and arrives in London at 11:05. Work out how long the journey takes.
- 5.A pop-up canopy has two sloping supports that meet at the top. Each support makes an angle of 30° with the ground and is 6 m long. Using the exact value of cos 30°, work out the total width of the canopy's base.
- 6.A bearing is described as being exactly halfway between north and east, measured clockwise. What is the three-figure bearing?
- 7.In this question, a curved surface counts as a face. How many faces does a sphere have?
- 8.Vector A is and vector B is . Write down how vector B compares to vector A.
- 9.A triangle has vertices A(1, 1), B(5, 1) and C(5, 4). Work out the lengths of AB, BC and CA, and write down whether triangle ABC is right-angled.
- 10.Write down the name given to a triangle whose three sides are all the same length.
- 11.A composite solid is made from a cylinder of radius 3 cm and height 10 cm, with a cone of the same radius and vertical height 4 cm fixed on top, apex upward. Work out the total volume of the solid. Use π = 3.14 and give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 12.In geometry, which of the following best describes a 'plane'?
- 13.In triangle ABC, point D lies on side AB and point E lies on side AC, so that DE is parallel to BC. AD = 3 cm, DB = 6 cm and DE = 4 cm. Work out the length of BC.
- 14.A water tank holds 2.5 m³. Work out this volume in cm³.
- 15.Triangle PQR has vertices P(0, 0), Q(9, 0) and R(0, 4). Work out the area of triangle PQR.
