- 1.In a right-angled triangle, θ is one of the acute angles. Write down the trigonometric ratio, in terms of the opposite and adjacent sides, that is used to find θ.
- 2.Line 1 passes through (0, 1) and (2, 5). Line 2 passes through (3, 2) and (5, 6). Work out the gradient of each line. Then write down whether the two lines are parallel.
- 3.A circular garden pond has a diameter of 5 m. A gardener is laying gravel around it in a ring-shaped path 1 m wide, measured outward from the edge of the pond. Work out the area of the gravel path. Use π = 3.14.
- 4.A ladder of length 7 m leans against a vertical wall. The foot of the ladder is 3 m from the base of the wall. Work out how high up the wall the ladder reaches. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.

- 6.A locus is described as the set of points exactly 4 cm from a fixed point O. What shape is this locus?
- 7.A window is made from a rectangle with a semicircle on top. The rectangle is 40 cm wide and 60 cm tall. The semicircle has the same width as the rectangle. Work out the total area of the window. Use π = 3.14. Give your answer to the nearest whole number.
- 8.Triangle PQR has vertices P(0, 0), Q(6, 0) and R(0, 8). Work out the perimeter of the triangle.
- 9.A recipe uses 0.75 kg of sugar. Work out how many grams of sugar this is.
- 10.A trapezium has parallel sides of length 6 cm and 10 cm, and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out its area.
- 11.A square-based pyramid has a square base and four identical triangular sloping faces, with its apex directly above the centre of the base. How many planes of symmetry does it have?
- 12.A courier drone delivers a parcel. It starts at the point (2, 1) on a map grid measured in kilometres. It flies by the vector to a warehouse, then by the vector to the delivery address. Work out the coordinates of the delivery address.
- 13.A transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one line, the angle is (5x + 4)°. The corresponding angle at the other line is (3x + 24)°. Work out the value of x.
- 14.A packaging designer is told a box has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices, and every face is a rectangle. To fit exactly onto a shelf, the designer needs to know whether the box must be a cube. Based only on this information, which solid must the box be?
- 15.At a point on a straight line, two angles are formed. One of them is 63°. Work out the size of the other angle.
