- 1.ABCD is an isosceles trapezium. The sides AB and DC are parallel, and the two sloping sides AD and BC are equal in length. Angle D is 112°. Work out the size of angle B.
- 2.Write down the column vector that describes a translation of 4 units to the right and 4 units up.
- 3.Work out the distance between the points (−3, 4) and (5, −2).
- 4.A ladder of length 7 m leans against a vertical wall. The foot of the ladder is 3 m from the base of the wall. Work out how high up the wall the ladder reaches. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 5.Lines GH and JK are parallel. A straight line crosses GH at point M and crosses JK at point N. Angle HMN = 71°. Angle HMN and angle MNK are alternate angles. Work out angle MNK.
- 6.A cube has all of its edges the same length. How many planes of symmetry does it have?
- 7.A map has a scale of 1 : 20 000. The distance between two villages is 3.4 km in real life. How long is this distance on the map, in centimetres?
- 8.A circle has diameter 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the circumference of the circle.
- 9.A cylindrical tin has a curved surface, a flat circular base and a flat circular lid. A label is stuck around the curved surface only. How many of the tin's faces are NOT covered by the label?
- 10.Every point on a circle is exactly the same distance from one particular point. Write down the name of that point.
- 11.Rectangle ABCD has vertices A(−1, 2), B(4, 2), C(4, 5) and D(−1, 5). The rectangle is translated so that C moves to (0, −1). Write down the coordinates of the image of A.
- 12.A square tile has sides of length 4.5 cm. Work out the perimeter of the tile.
- 13.Two vertical masts stand on level ground, 40 m apart. One mast is 30 m tall and the other is 50 m tall. Work out the straight-line distance between the tops of the two masts. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 14.The point A(3, 2) is translated by the vector (−5, 4) to give point B. Work out the coordinates of B.
- 15.u is the column vector with top number 7 and bottom number 3. v is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 5. Work out u − v, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
