- 1.A roof truss is shaped like an isosceles triangle resting on a horizontal ceiling joist. The truss's sloping edges are equal in length, and the angle at its apex is 40°. The ceiling joist continues in a straight line beyond the foot of the truss. Work out the angle between the truss's sloping edge and the extended joist, on the outside of the truss.
- 2.The point A(3, 2) is translated by the vector (−5, 4) to give point B. Work out the coordinates of B.
- 3.A cylindrical drum and a cuboid box are being wrapped for a display. A shop assistant wraps only the flat faces of each item, not any curved surface. How many flat faces in total does the assistant wrap across both items?
- 4.A bearing is described as being exactly halfway between north and east, measured clockwise. What is the three-figure bearing?
- 5.In parallelogram PQRS, angle P = 65°. Which reason correctly explains why angle R = 65°?
- 6.A triangular badge has two sides of length 8 cm and a third side of length 5 cm. Work out the perimeter of the badge.
- 7.A shop sells rice in packs of 250 g. Aisha buys 4 packs. Work out the total mass of rice she buys, in kilograms.
- 8.Work out the gradient of the line segment joining A(2, 3) and B(6, 11).
- 9.In triangle ABC, angle ABC = 90° and angle BAC = 30°. The hypotenuse AC = 12 cm. Work out the exact length of AB.
- 10.A quadrilateral has all four sides equal in length and all four interior angles equal to 90°. Its diagonals are equal in length and bisect each other at right angles. Which quadrilateral matches this description exactly?
- 11.The vector describes a translation. A student writes it as by mistake. Write down what error the student has made.
- 12.m is the column vector with top number 3 and bottom number −4. Which of these column vectors is a scalar multiple of m?
- 13.A water tank holds 2.5 m³. Work out this volume in cm³.
- 14.A transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one line, the angle is (5x + 4)°. The corresponding angle at the other line is (3x + 24)°. Work out the value of x.
- 15.Two straight paths cross at a junction in a park. One of the angles between them, measured with a protractor, is 76°. What is the size of the angle immediately next to it on a straight line?
