- 1.A parallelogram has an area of 84 cm² and a base of 12 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 2.A chocolate bar is a prism. Its cross-section is a triangle with a base of 6 cm and a perpendicular height of 5 cm, and the bar is 12 cm long. Work out the volume of the bar.
- 3.A sector of a circle has radius 15 cm and angle 216°. Using π = 3.14, work out the arc length of the sector.
- 4.Triangle JKL has a right angle at K, hypotenuse JL = 13 cm, and side JK = 5 cm. Triangle MNO has a right angle at N, hypotenuse MO = 13 cm, and side MN = 5 cm. Using only the facts given, and without working out any further lengths, write down the congruence condition that proves triangle JKL is congruent to triangle MNO.
- 5.In a kite, one pair of opposite angles are equal in size. In kite WXYZ, angle X = 40° and angle Z = 100° are the two angles that are NOT equal to each other. The other two angles, W and Y, are equal to each other. Work out the size of angle W.
- 6.A square tile has sides of length 4.5 cm. Work out the perimeter of the tile.
- 7.In a right-angled triangle, the two shorter sides are a and b, and the hypotenuse is c. Write down the correct statement of Pythagoras' theorem.
- 8.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. Side AB is 8 cm and corresponds to side PQ, which is 12 cm. Side AC is 6 cm and corresponds to side PR. Work out the length of PR.
- 9.A garden plan is drawn to a scale of 1 cm : 1.8 m. A path on the plan measures 4.5 cm. What is the real length of the path, in metres, to 1 decimal place?
- 10.Triangle DEF is isosceles, with DE = DF. Angle E = 58°. Give a reason why angle F = 58°.
- 11.A ship sails 12 km on a bearing of 070° from a harbour to a buoy. It then sails a further 9 km, still on a bearing of 070°, from the buoy to a lighthouse. How far is the lighthouse from the harbour, in kilometres?
- 12.Point D is at (3, 4). It is rotated 90° clockwise about the origin (0, 0). Work out the coordinates of the image of point D.
- 13.Triangle PQR has angle P = 90°. The side PQ = 9 cm and the hypotenuse QR = 15 cm. Work out the length of PR.
- 14.Point D is at (3, 7). It is reflected in the line y = x. Work out the coordinates of the image of point D.y = x
- 15.p is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number 2. q is the column vector with top number 1 and bottom number 6. Work out p + q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
