- 1.Triangle ABC is extended so that side BC is extended beyond C to a point D, forming exterior angle ACD. Angle BAC = 48° and angle ABC = 67°. Which single angle fact gives angle ACD = 115° in one step, without first working out the interior angle at C?
- 2.Two similar hexagonal tiles have lengths in the ratio 4 : 7. A side of the smaller tile is 8.4 cm long. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the larger tile.
- 3.A sprinkler waters a sector-shaped patch of a garden with radius 8 m and angle 90°. Work out the perimeter of the watered sector, to 1 decimal place. (Use π = 3.14.)
- 4.The bearing of a harbour B from a ferry's position A is 260°. What is the bearing of A from B?
- 5.A trapezium has parallel sides of 5.6 cm and 8.4 cm, and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out the area of the trapezium.
- 6.A sector of a circle has radius 10 cm and angle 150°. Using π = 3.14, work out the perimeter of the sector, to 1 decimal place.
- 7.Triangle ABC has AB = 6 cm, BC = 8 cm and angle B = 90°. Triangle XYZ has XY = 6 cm, YZ = 8 cm and angle Y = 90°. Which congruence statement correctly shows the matching vertices?
- 8.A circle has centre O. PQ, RS and TU are three chords of the circle, and only one of them passes through O. Write down what this tells you about that chord.
- 9.Write down which quadrant contains the point (−3, 5) when plotted on a coordinate grid.
- 10.A photograph is 10 cm wide and 15 cm tall. It is enlarged to make a similar poster that is 40 cm wide. The poster costs £0.80 per centimetre of its height to print, based on its full height. Work out the cost of printing the poster.
- 11.In quadrilateral ABCD, side AB is parallel to side DC. Which statement correctly uses geometric notation to show this?
- 12.A hexagon has interior angles of 130°, 142°, 125°, 150°, 135° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 13.Write down the exact value of tan 45°.
- 14.Point A is at (5, 2). It is translated by the vector (−3, 4) to give point A′. Work out the coordinates of A′.
- 15.Point B is at (1, 6). It is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image of point B.
