- 1.A tap fills a tank at a rate of 18 litres per minute. The tank holds 0.45 m³. Work out how long the tap takes to fill the tank.
- 2.A wooden cube has edges of length 4 cm. Work out the total surface area of the cube.
- 3.Work out the exact value of cos 0° − sin 30°.
- 4.p is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 3. q is the column vector with top number −1 and bottom number 4. Work out 2p + q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 5.Quadrilateral WXYZ has WX parallel to ZY, and WZ = XY (the two non-parallel sides are equal in length). Give a reason why angle W = angle X.
- 6.Triangle A has a vertex at (1, 2). Triangle A is enlarged, centre (1, 1), to give triangle B, whose corresponding vertex is at (1, 5). Work out the scale factor of the enlargement.
- 7.A sprinkler waters a sector-shaped patch of a garden with radius 8 m and angle 90°. Work out the perimeter of the watered sector, to 1 decimal place. (Use π = 3.14.)
- 8.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. AB corresponds to PQ, and BC corresponds to QR. AB = 5 cm, PQ = 15 cm and BC = 7 cm. Work out the length of QR.
- 9.A flagpole is 12 m tall. Freya stands 9 m from the base of the flagpole on level ground. Work out the angle of elevation of the top of the flagpole from where Freya stands. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 10.Triangle T has a vertex at (2, 1). It is enlarged by a scale factor of 3, centre (0, 0). Work out the coordinates of the image of this vertex.
- 11.A drone flies from its base in three stages, each stage measured in metres east and north as a column vector. Stage 1 is the column vector with top number 30 and bottom number 40. Stage 2 is the column vector with top number −10 and bottom number 20. Stage 3 is the column vector with top number 15 and bottom number −5. Work out the column vector that would take the drone in a single straight flight back to its base from where it ends up.
- 12.The diagram shows a solid built from identical cubes. How many squares are in its plan view, the view looking straight down from above?
- 13.The column vector r has top number 2 and bottom number 6. Which of these column vectors is parallel to r?
- 14.ABCD is an isosceles trapezium. The sides AB and DC are parallel, and the two sloping sides AD and BC are equal in length. Angle D is 112°. Work out the size of angle B.
- 15.A chord divides a circle into two segments of different sizes. Write down the name given to the smaller of the two segments.
