- 1.Write down the name given to a triangle whose three sides are all the same length.
- 2.The diagram shows the plan view and the front elevation of a cuboid-shaped box, each drawn as a rectangle. Work out the area of the box's side elevation, in square centimetres.
- 3.In an isosceles triangle each of the two base angles is 46°. Work out the size of the angle at the apex.
- 4.A quadrilateral has angles of 100°, 85° and 95° at three of its vertices. Work out the fourth angle.
- 5.A sailmaker cuts two triangular sail panels from a pattern. Panel X has a 10 m side, with angles of 50° and 75° at its two ends. Panel Y also has a 10 m side, with angles of 50° and 75° at its two ends, in the same arrangement. The sailmaker wants to check the panels will match exactly, without cutting a third measurement. Which condition proves the two panels are congruent?
- 6.In triangle PQR and triangle STU, PQ = ST, QR = TU and PR = SU. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 7.A shop sells a scale model of a van. The model and the real van are similar shapes, with lengths in the ratio 1 : 24. The model is 18.5 cm long. Work out the length of the real van, giving your answer in metres.
- 8.In triangle ABC the angle at A and the angle at C are equal. The side AB is extended beyond B, and the exterior angle formed at B measures 98°. Work out the size of the angle at A.
- 9.A solid has 10 vertices and 15 edges. Using the formula F + V − E = 2, work out how many faces it has.
- 10.A solid has 6 faces and 8 vertices. Using the formula F + V − E = 2, work out how many edges it has.
- 11.A sector of a circle has radius 9 cm and angle 40°. Work out the area of the sector, in terms of π.
- 12.A sector of a circle has radius 10 cm and angle 150°. Using π = 3.14, work out the perimeter of the sector, to 1 decimal place.
- 13.Point B is at (1, 6). It is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image of point B.
- 14.A trapezium has parallel sides of 5 cm and 11 cm, and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out the area of the trapezium.
- 15.A solid has 6 faces: one pentagon and five triangles that all meet at a single point above the pentagon. What is the name of this solid?
