- 1.Every point on a circle is exactly the same distance from one particular point. Write down the name of that point.
- 2.A garden shed is shaped like a triangular prism: two identical vertical triangular end walls (the gable ends), joined by a sloping rectangular roof and a vertical rectangular back wall. Looking at the shed from directly above (the plan view), what shape is seen?
- 3.A straight line touches the edge of a circle at exactly one point and does not cross into the circle at all. Write down the term for this line.
- 4.In quadrilateral WXYZ, which of the following correctly names the angle at vertex Y using standard notation?
- 5.A footpath is 3750 m long. Work out this distance in kilometres.
- 6.A quadrilateral has exactly two lines of symmetry, its two pairs of opposite angles are equal, and its diagonals are not equal in length. Write down the name of this quadrilateral.
- 7.Work out the exact value of sin 30° + cos 60°.
- 8.Three angles lie on a straight line. They measure 38°, 95° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 9.A designer enlarges a drawing of a model car for a poster. She first enlarges the drawing by a scale factor of 1.5, and then enlarges that result by a further scale factor of 2. On the original drawing, the position of a wheel relative to the front bumper is given by the column vector with top number 4 and bottom number −3, in centimetres. What is the corresponding column vector on the poster, in centimetres?
- 10.A line segment is measured with a ruler and found to be 6.5 cm long. What is this length in millimetres?
- 11.Triangle DEF is isosceles, with DE = DF. Angle E = 58°. Give a reason why angle F = 58°.
- 12.A drone starts at the point (3.5, −2) on a grid measured in metres. It flies by the vector to check a first sensor. The drone then needs to fly in a straight line to reach the point (−1.7, 9) to check a second sensor. Work out the column vector of this second flight.
- 13.u is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number 1. v is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 4. Work out u − v, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 14.A rectangular tile measures 4.5 cm by 6 cm. Work out the area of the tile.
- 15.Compasses are opened to exactly half the length of AB, and arcs are drawn centred at A and at B, to construct the perpendicular bisector of AB. Why does this fail?
