- 1.A solid ball has a radius of 7 cm. Work out the surface area of the ball. Use π = 3.14.
- 2.A support strut for a shed roof is in the shape of a right-angled triangle. The two shorter sides of the strut are 5 m and 9 m. Work out the length of the sloping strut (the hypotenuse). Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 3.A flower bed in the shape of a parallelogram has a base of 3.5 m and a perpendicular height of 2 m. Compost costs £4.80 per m². Work out the total cost of covering the flower bed with compost.
- 4.A cylinder has a radius of 5 cm. Its volume is 471 cm³. Using π = 3.14, work out the height of the cylinder.
- 5.In triangle ABC, point D lies on side AB and point E lies on side AC, so that DE is parallel to BC. AD = 3 cm, DB = 6 cm and DE = 4 cm. Work out the length of BC.
- 6.Two triangles are similar. The sides of the first triangle are 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm. The shortest side of the second triangle is 9 cm. Work out the scale factor from the first triangle to the second.
- 7.A cone is cut by a flat plane parallel to its circular base, partway up between the base and the apex. What shape is the cross-section?
- 8.A solid has a plan view that is a circle, and a front elevation that is a triangle. Which solid is this?
- 9.A chord divides a circle into two segments of different sizes. Write down the name given to the smaller of the two segments.
- 10.Point B is at (1, 6). It is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image of point B.
- 11.Which of these describes an obtuse angle?
- 12.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, AB = DE, angle ABC = angle DEF and BC = EF. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 13.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 10 cm and one of its other angles is 45°. Work out the length of one of the two shorter sides. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 14.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. AB corresponds to PQ, and BC corresponds to QR. AB = 5 cm, PQ = 15 cm and BC = 7 cm. Work out the length of QR.
- 15.Point C is at (5, 2). It is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image of point C.
