- 1.P is the point (3, 4) and Q is the point (6, 0). Work out the distance of each point from the origin, and write down which point is closer to the origin.
- 2.A sector of a circle has radius 9 cm and angle 60°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector, to 1 decimal place.
- 3.A circular plate has a diameter of 20 cm. Work out the area of the plate. Use π = 3.14.
- 4.p is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number 2. q is the column vector with top number 1 and bottom number 6. Work out p + q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 5.The point (4, −3) is reflected in the y-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image point.
- 6.Write down how many right angles a rectangle has.
- 7.Lines GH and JK are parallel. A straight line crosses GH at point M and crosses JK at point N. Angle HMN = 71°. Angle HMN and angle MNK are alternate angles. Work out angle MNK.
- 8.A garden plan is drawn to a scale of 1 cm : 1.8 m. A path on the plan measures 4.5 cm. What is the real length of the path, in metres, to 1 decimal place?
- 9.The diagram shows a solid made from two cuboids joined together. Which shape is the front elevation of this solid?
- 10.A textbook contains the instruction 'Draw AB' and, on the next line, the statement 'AB = 5 cm'. Which statement about the notation AB is correct?
- 11.A drone starts at the point (2, −3) on a coordinate grid. It flies by the vector and then by the vector . Write down the column vector that would take the drone straight back to its starting point.
- 12.Triangle PQR has angle P = 90°. The side PQ = 9 cm and the hypotenuse QR = 15 cm. Work out the length of PR.
- 13.In triangle ABC, angle ABC = 90° and angle BAC = 30°. The hypotenuse AC = 12 cm. Work out the exact length of AB.
- 14.A circular pizza base has a radius of 12 cm. Work out the area of the pizza base. Use π = 3.14.
