- 1.Write down the number of lines of symmetry a rhombus has.
- 2.A locus consists of all the points that are the same perpendicular distance from two parallel lines 6 cm apart. Describe this locus.
- 3.A rectangular notice board measures 150 cm by 80 cm. Work out its area in m².
- 4.Write down the mathematical name for a quadrilateral that has exactly one pair of parallel sides.
- 5.A solid is built from centimetre cubes standing on a table. Seen from the front, the left-hand column is 2 cubes high, the middle column is 2 cubes high and the right-hand column is 1 cube high. Work out how many squares make up the front elevation.
- 6.A solid has 5 faces: one square face and four triangular faces, which all meet at a single point above the square. What is the name of this solid?
- 7.Triangle JKL has a right angle at K, hypotenuse JL = 13 cm, and side JK = 5 cm. Triangle MNO has a right angle at N, hypotenuse MO = 13 cm, and side MN = 5 cm. Using only the facts given, and without working out any further lengths, write down the congruence condition that proves triangle JKL is congruent to triangle MNO.
- 8.A solid has 6 faces and 8 vertices. Using the formula F + V − E = 2, work out how many edges it has.
- 9.A kitchen scale is marked in equal divisions of 20 g. The pointer rests three divisions past the 400 g mark. Work out the reading on the scale.
- 10.Two similar flags have widths in the ratio 2 : 5. The width of the smaller flag is 8 cm. Work out the width of the larger flag.
- 11.A circular table mat has diameter 20 cm. Yasmin has a 70 cm length of ribbon and sews it around the edge of the mat with no overlap. Using π = 3.14, work out how much ribbon is left over after going around the mat once.
- 12.A translation is described by the column vector . Write down the column vector of the translation that undoes it.
- 13.A church tower is due east of a village. What is the three-figure bearing of the church tower from the village?
- 14.A footpath is 3750 m long. Work out this distance in kilometres.
- 15.A sector of a circle has radius 6 cm and angle 60°. Work out the arc length of the sector, in terms of π.
