- 1.A rhombus has all four sides equal in length. Write down how many pairs of parallel sides a rhombus has.
- 2.A solid cylinder is lying on its curved side on a table, with its circular ends facing left and right. What shape is its plan view, looking down from above?
- 3.A sector of a circle has radius 5 cm and angle 72°. Work out the arc length of the sector, in terms of π.
- 4.A hiker walks due west. What is the three-figure bearing for this direction?
- 5.A shape is translated by the vector and then by the vector . Write down the single column vector that has the same effect as those two translations together.
- 6.A trundle wheel has a diameter of 0.5 m. It is rolled along the ground and makes 20 complete turns. Using π = 3.14, work out the total distance rolled, in metres.
- 7.Lines GH and JK are parallel. A straight line crosses GH at point M and crosses JK at point N. Angle HMN = 71°. Angle HMN and angle MNK are alternate angles. Work out angle MNK.
- 8.Point D is at (3, 4). It is rotated 90° clockwise about the origin (0, 0). Work out the coordinates of the image of point D.
- 9.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 29 cm and one shorter side of 20 cm. Work out the length of the other shorter side.
- 10.A circle has a diameter of 24 cm. A sector of this circle has an angle of 90°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector.
- 11.Write down the name given to a quadrilateral that has exactly one pair of parallel sides.
- 12.Three angles lie on a straight line. They measure 38°, 95° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 13.The point R(−6, 9) is translated by the vector . Write down the coordinates of the image of R.
- 14.In a right-angled triangle, the two shorter sides are a and b, and the hypotenuse is c. Write down the correct statement of Pythagoras' theorem.
- 15.Two triangles are congruent to each other. What does this tell you about their angles and sides?
