- 1.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, AB = DE, AC = DF, and the angle at A equals the angle at D. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 2.A tangent to a circle touches the circle at exactly one point, P. Work out the size of the angle between the tangent and the radius drawn to P.
- 3.u is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number 1. v is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 4. Work out u − v, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 4.Two angles are complementary. One of them is 35°. Work out the size of the other angle.
- 5.A sector of a circle has radius 6 cm and angle 150°. Using π = 3.14, work out the perimeter of the sector.
- 6.A solid has 6 faces: one pentagon and five triangles that all meet at a single point above the pentagon. What is the name of this solid?
- 7.A hexagon has interior angles of 130°, 142°, 125°, 150°, 135° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 8.The diagram shows the plan of the base layer of a solid built from identical cubes. A second layer of cubes is added on top, filling the entire base layer to a height of 2 cubes everywhere. Work out how many squares are visible in the plan view of this solid.
- 9.At a point on a straight line, two angles are formed. One of them is 63°. Work out the size of the other angle.
- 10.Two sides of a triangle are 20 cm and 8 cm long. Write down which one of these lengths is possible for the third side.
- 11.A line segment is measured with a ruler and found to be 6.5 cm long. What is this length in millimetres?
- 12.Point A is at (5, 2). It is translated by the vector (−3, 4) to give point A′. Work out the coordinates of A′.
- 13.A footpath sign shows a distance of 0.45 km to the next village. Work out this distance in metres.
- 14.In triangle ABC the base BC is 10 cm long and the sloping side AB is 13 cm long. The perpendicular height from A down to BC is 12 cm. Work out the area of triangle ABC.
- 15.Write down how many right angles a right-angled triangle has.
