- 1.A shape is translated by the vector , and one vertex of the image is at the point (1, 6). The original shape is instead translated by the vector . Work out the coordinates of the image of that same vertex under this second translation.
- 2.Quadrilateral WXYZ has WX parallel to ZY, and WZ = XY (the two non-parallel sides are equal in length). Give a reason why angle W = angle X.
- 3.A circle has diameter 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the circumference of the circle.
- 4.A circle has a diameter of 4 cm. Work out the radius of the circle.
- 5.A triangular bunting flag has two equal sides. The angle between those two equal sides is 80°, and the other two angles of the flag are equal to each other. Work out the size of each of the two equal angles.
- 6.A ramp is built from two straight metal supports that rest on the flat ground and meet each other at the top, forming a triangle with the ground. One support meets the ground at 34°. The angle between the two supports where they meet is 71°. Work out the angle between the second support and the ground.
- 7.A perpendicular bisector is drawn through the midpoint of a line segment AB. Which set of points does this construction show?
- 8.A shape is translated by the vector and then by the vector . Write down the single column vector that has the same effect as those two translations together.
- 9.e is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number k. f is the column vector with top number 15 and bottom number 6. Given that f is 3 times e, work out the value of k.
- 10.A straight line touches the edge of a circle at exactly one point and does not cross into the circle at all. Write down the term for this line.
- 11.A tile is described as having two pairs of parallel sides, four equal sides, and diagonals that cross at right angles but are not equal in length. Give a reason why this tile cannot be a square.
- 12.In kite WXYZ, WX = WZ and XY = ZY (so at each of X and Z, one side from each of the two unequal pairs meets). Angle X = 100°. Work out angle Z.
- 13.A solid is a single cube. Its plan view (from above), front elevation (from the front) and side elevation (from the side) are drawn separately. What shape is each of these three views?
- 14.Two triangles are congruent to each other. What does this tell you about their angles and sides?
- 15.Two straight lines cross at a point. Which statement about a pair of vertically opposite angles is always true?
