- 1.Work out the gradient of the line segment joining A(2, 3) and B(6, 11).
- 2.A quadrilateral has exactly two lines of symmetry, its two pairs of opposite angles are equal, and its diagonals are not equal in length. Write down the name of this quadrilateral.
- 3.A roof truss is shaped like an isosceles triangle resting on a horizontal ceiling joist. The truss's sloping edges are equal in length, and the angle at its apex is 40°. The ceiling joist continues in a straight line beyond the foot of the truss. Work out the angle between the truss's sloping edge and the extended joist, on the outside of the truss.
- 4.u is the column vector with top number 7 and bottom number 3. v is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 5. Work out u − v, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 5.A circle is drawn on a page. Write down how many radii can be drawn in the circle.
- 6.Write down the exact value of tan 0°.
- 7.In quadrilateral WXYZ, which of the following correctly names the angle at vertex Y using standard notation?
- 8.Triangle ABC is drawn. The interior angle bisectors from vertices A and B are constructed and meet at point I inside the triangle. Which statement about point I must be true?
- 9.A solid cylinder is lying on its curved side on a table, with its circular ends facing left and right. What shape is its plan view, looking down from above?
- 10.A solid has 10 vertices and 15 edges. Using the formula F + V − E = 2, work out how many faces it has.
- 11.Two similar flags have widths in the ratio 2 : 5. The width of the smaller flag is 8 cm. Work out the width of the larger flag.
- 12.Two similar signs have lengths in the ratio 9 : 4. The larger sign has a side of length 14.4 cm. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the smaller sign.
- 13.Lines AB and CD are parallel. A straight line EF crosses AB at point P and crosses CD at point Q. At P, angle APE = 65°. Angle APE and angle BPQ are vertically opposite. Angle BPQ and angle PQD are co-interior (allied) angles. Work out angle PQD.
- 14.A jug holds 750 ml of water. Work out what fraction of a litre this is.
- 15.A cylinder has a radius of 3 cm and a height of 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the volume of the cylinder.
