- 1.A perpendicular bisector is drawn through the midpoint of a line segment AB. Which set of points does this construction show?
- 2.A sector of a circle has radius 4 cm and angle 90°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector.
- 3.A polygon has one more side than a heptagon. What is the polygon called?
- 4.A photograph is 10 cm wide and 15 cm tall. It is enlarged to make a similar poster that is 40 cm wide. The poster costs £0.80 per centimetre of its height to print, based on its full height. Work out the cost of printing the poster.
- 5.A ladder of length 7 m leans against a vertical wall. The foot of the ladder is 3 m from the base of the wall. Work out how high up the wall the ladder reaches. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 6.A designer creates a repeating tile pattern. Each tile is translated from the one before it by the column vector with top number 4.5 and bottom number −2.5 (in centimetres). The first tile has its bottom-left corner at (1.5, 3). Work out the coordinates of the bottom-left corner of the third tile.
- 7.A path goes from A(1, 1) to B(1, 5), then from B to C(6, 5). Work out the total length of the path from A to C.
- 8.A solid has 10 vertices and 15 edges. Using the formula F + V − E = 2, work out how many faces it has.
- 9.Compasses are opened to exactly half the length of AB, and arcs are drawn centred at A and at B, to construct the perpendicular bisector of AB. Why does this fail?
- 10.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, the angle at A and the angle at D are both 40°, and the angle at B and the angle at E are both 70°. No side lengths are given. Write down whether the two triangles must be similar, with the reason.
- 11.The point A(3, 2) is translated by the vector (−5, 4) to give point B. Work out the coordinates of B.
- 12.Here are four trigonometric ratios of special angles. Write down the one that does not have a value.
- 13.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 10 cm and one of its other angles is 45°. Work out the length of one of the two shorter sides. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 14.A quadrilateral has both pairs of opposite sides parallel and equal in length, but none of its angles are right angles. Which statement about this quadrilateral is correct?
- 15.Triangle ABC has AB = 5 cm and BC = 7 cm. Triangle DEF has DE = 5 cm and EF = 7 cm. Which extra fact would prove the triangles are congruent by SAS?
