- 1.A ladder rests against a wall, making an angle of 60° with the ground. The ladder is 2 m long. Using the exact value of sin 60°, work out how high up the wall the ladder reaches, giving your answer in centimetres.
- 2.A solid has 6 faces and 8 vertices. Using the formula F + V − E = 2, work out how many edges it has.
- 3.A translation is described by the column vector . Write down a description of this translation in words, stating the horizontal and vertical movement.
- 4.A straight line is drawn from the centre of a circle to a point on the circle. Write down the name of this line.
- 5.In a kite, one pair of opposite angles are equal in size. In kite WXYZ, angle X = 40° and angle Z = 100° are the two angles that are NOT equal to each other. The other two angles, W and Y, are equal to each other. Work out the size of angle W.
- 6.A sector of a circle is bounded by two straight edges and one curved edge. Write down the mathematical term for each of the two straight edges.
- 7.A scale drawing uses a scale of 1 : 60. A path on the drawing is measured as 9.8 cm long. What is the real length of the path, in metres, to 1 decimal place?
- 8.Quadrilateral PQRS has angle P = 92°, angle Q = 84° and angle R = 106°. Work out the size of angle S.
- 9.A line segment joins A(1, 1) and B(4, 7). Write down the sign of the gradient of this line.
- 10.A water tank is a cube with edges of length 2 m. Work out how many cubic centimetres the tank holds when it is full.
- 11.A straight line passes through points A, B and C, with B between A and C. A fourth point D is not on the line. Angle ABD = 132°. Work out the size of angle DBC.
- 12.The point M(3, 8) is translated by the vector . Write down the coordinates of the image of M.
- 13.A triangle has a base of 8 cm and a perpendicular height of 5 cm. Work out its area.
- 14.A rectangular garden gate is 3 m wide and 4 m high. A straight brace runs from one corner of the gate to the opposite corner. Work out the length of the brace.
- 15.Which pair of points lies on a horizontal line when the points are plotted on a coordinate grid?
