- 2.A solid cube has a volume of 8 cm³. Work out the length of one edge of the cube.
- 3.A fan-shaped rug is in the shape of a sector of a circle with radius 4 m and angle 180°. It costs £4 per square metre to make. Using π = 3.14, work out the total cost of the rug.
- 4.In geometry, which of the following best describes a 'plane'?

- 6.A shop sells a scale model of a van. The model and the real van are similar shapes, with lengths in the ratio 1 : 24. The model is 18.5 cm long. Work out the length of the real van, giving your answer in metres.
- 7.A vertical flagpole casts a shadow 6 m long at the same time as a 1.2 m vertical post casts a shadow 1.8 m long. The flagpole and the post are both vertical, and the triangles formed by each object, its shadow, and the sun's ray are similar. Work out the height of the flagpole.
- 8.A parallelogram has an area of 84 cm² and a base of 12 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 9.A rhombus has all four sides equal in length, but it is not a square — its angles are not all 90°. How many lines of symmetry does this rhombus have?
- 10.A circular coaster has a radius of 4 cm. Work out the circumference of the coaster. Give your answer in terms of π.
- 11.A bearing is described as being exactly halfway between north and east, measured clockwise. What is the three-figure bearing?
- 12.Write down the mathematical name for a quadrilateral that has exactly one pair of parallel sides.
- 13.A textbook contains the instruction 'Draw AB' and, on the next line, the statement 'AB = 5 cm'. Which statement about the notation AB is correct?
