- 1.A translation moves the point (1, 1) to the point (9, 4). Write down the column vector of this translation.
- 2.A shape is translated by the vector . The point P(6, 1) lies on the shape. Write down the coordinates of the image of P.
- 3.p is the column vector with top number 4 and bottom number −3. Work out 2p, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 4.A quadrilateral has angles of 100°, 85° and 95° at three of its vertices. Work out the fourth angle.
- 5.A sector of a circle has radius 6 cm and an arc length of 15.7 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the angle of the sector.
- 6.A photocopier enlarges a document so that every length is multiplied by the same scale factor. A line on the original document is 3.2 cm long, and the same line measures 11.2 cm on the enlarged copy. A second line on the original document is 2.5 cm long. Work out the length of the second line on the enlarged copy, giving your answer to 2 decimal places.
- 7.A rectangular photograph has an area of 96 cm². One of its sides is 8 cm long. Work out the length of the other side.
- 8.Two straight lines PQ and RS cross at point O. Angle POR = 52°. Work out angle QOS.
- 9.The diagram shows a solid resting on its side on a table. Work out which shape is its plan view, the view looking straight down from above.
- 10.A roof truss is shaped like an isosceles triangle resting on a horizontal ceiling joist. The truss's sloping edges are equal in length, and the angle at its apex is 40°. The ceiling joist continues in a straight line beyond the foot of the truss. Work out the angle between the truss's sloping edge and the extended joist, on the outside of the truss.
- 11.Write down how many right angles a rectangle has.
- 12.A parallelogram has a base of 9 cm and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out its area.
- 13.A hexagon has interior angles of 130°, 142°, 125°, 150°, 135° and x°. Work out the value of x.
- 14.In triangle ABC, angle ABC = 90° and angle BAC = 30°. The hypotenuse AC = 12 cm. Work out the exact length of AB.
- 15.Triangle ABC has AB = 5 cm, BC = 7 cm and CA = 9 cm. Triangle DEF has DE = 5 cm, EF = 7 cm and FD = 9 cm. Which condition proves the two triangles are congruent?
